Fundraising for Taree Flood Relief

By Henry Mortlock and Chelsea Davies – Student Representative Council

In response to the major flooding in our community a few weeks ago, the student leadership team and SRC felt led to do whatever we could to support the families in our school community who were majorly impacted by this devastating event.

To help out financially, we put together a week of fundraising that would allow secondary students to be involved in a range of activities in order to raise as much money as we possibly could in this last-minute fundraiser.

Each day we held a different event. On Tuesday we held a sausage sizzle which sold out super-fast. On Wednesday we had a karaoke party in the Theatrette where we saw many fantastic performances. Thursday was a bake sale – so many amazing goodies were generously donated by students and staff, then purchased to eat at recess and lunch. Finally, on a chilly Friday, we warmed ourselves up with Hoodie and Oodie day.

Throughout the week of fundraising, we managed to raise a total of $5107.13!

We want to personally thank the whole school community for getting involved in these activities. Thank you to those who kindly donated goods to sell and a very special thank you to all of the SRC and Student Leaders for their vision and hard work in making this week such a great success.
