Developing your child’s gifts and interests as they master foundational skills

The Primary years at MCCC are all about discovery — of new ideas, hidden talents, and what it means to be part of a caring community. From the first bell to the last laugh on the playground, every moment is an opportunity for growth.

Our dedicated teachers create vibrant classrooms where curiosity is celebrated, challenges are embraced, and every child is encouraged to do their best. Whether it’s mastering times tables, painting their next masterpiece, or cheering on their teammates at a sports gala day, students leave each day knowing they are loved, supported, and capable.

Sparking curiosity

From our vibrant classrooms to our engaging teachers, learning in Primary is hands-on and full of wonder. We design lessons that weave different subjects together. Some teachers incorporate lessons in the hospitality kitchens, while others collaborate with the agriculture department and some draw on the expertise of specialist educators in Music, PE, Drama, Dance and Koori Culture

A love of movement

From carnival races to team sports, our inclusive program helps every student enjoy the benefits of physical activity, teamwork, and resilience.

“Sport is one of the most powerful tools for teaching teamwork and resilience. Our students quickly learn they can’t achieve success on their own – working together is essential. And when they miss out, lose or don’t make the team, those moments build character. It’s not easy, but it teaches humility, perseverance and the courage to try again.”

Creative expression

Music, drama, and art give students the tools to explore their God-given creativity and share it with the world.

We see this creative expression regularly through integrated learning. A class project could involve creating a performance or visual display that brings together Creative Arts, Biblical Studies and social-emotional learning goals. Teachers plan these experiences collaboratively, ensuring that creative expression also nurtures teamwork and faith in action.

Digital readiness

Technology plays a key role in preparing our students for the future, ensuring they develop the skills and knowledge required to navigate a digital world confidently.

In the younger years, we introduce students to the world of technology in a way that is engaging, interactive, and purposeful.

As students enter Year 5 and 6, technology begins to play a larger role in their learning, supporting the development of more advanced skills in subjects such as research, collaboration, and content creation.
