Year 2 Explore Our Natural Environment at Sea Acres

As part of their Science unit, Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Sea Acres Rainforest in Port Macquarie!

Students explored the basic needs and functions of plants, animals and humans, as well as how living things grow, adapt, and interact with their environment.🌱

Students and teachers learnt about the amazing creation God has made and ways we can help to care for it

Year 2 wrote information reports about what they learnt about three particular habitats: Rainforest, Desert and Ocean:

A habitat is place where animals live – Ethan

Deserts can get really hot in the day, but at night deserts can fall below zero degrees. Deserts don’t get much rain because there is no water to evaporateThis is how cacti get there water so whenever it does rain it saves water – Samuel

Around 70% of the earth is ocean. There are no plants in the deepest art of the ocean. Kelp is largest plant in the ocean. Coral is made of little animals. Oceans are the largest habitat in the world. Blue whales can get up to 110 feet and the largest waves are 60 feet – Harry

The rainforest is home to many different animals, like monkeys and birds. The figs can do things to look like the trees and can strangle trees – Ethan
